Moringa Oleifera: World's most nutritious plant

What was once called as the "poor man's vegetable" is now considered as the world's most nutritious plant. Moringa oleifera
 or what is locally known as the "malunggay" is a complete source of nutrients needed to nourish the body and boost health. It has also a healing effect for certain kinds of diseases. With its more than 90 nutrients and 46 types of antioxidants, it is, without doubt, the most nutritious plant on earth. Each gram of moringa leaves has a nutritional value equivalent to four times the calcium in milk, seven times the vitamin C in oranges, three times the iron in spinach, four times the vitamin A in carrots, two times the protein in milk, and three times the potassium in bananas.

It has been said that a simple Filipino dish of what is a chicken (most preferably a native chicken) stew cannot be without the malunggay  leaves included in its ingredients. Moringa is best to combat malnutrition and it is also good for lactating/breastfeeding mothers to boost of their milk production. Back home when I was a lot younger, I could still remember how my grandmother has introduced pounded malunggay leaves to treat wounds or cuts. The wound or cut must be cleansed first with soap and water then wipe it with a clean, dry towel. The extracted nectar of the pounded malunggay leaves must be then applied directly to the wound or cut. You will notice that the bleeding (if there's any) will stop and the wound or cut heals faster than the normal. Malunggay being a multipurpose plant has, indeed, lived up to its other name which is called the "miracle tree".

God has truly blessed us with everything to sustain a life, heal, and to live healthy through nature. The choice is ours. Nature is our life; we must, therefore, save and protect it from all of the destruction that this world and existence may have caused with. Moringa oleifera is nature's gift to us; to take care of that gift is our gift to nature.

    1. The fact that moringa is low in fat (especially the leaves) and highly nutritious they offer dieters a healthy alternative to eating many higher calorie foods. The increased metabolism resulting from consumption of moringa leaves which are very rich in B vitamins will be one of the "key" factors to achieve that ideal weight for one's height.
