Let me through a foolish thought swims

"So free we seem, so fettered fast we are!"
-Robert Browning

"Freedom has a thousand charms to show,
That slaves, howe'er contented, never know."
                                                      -William Cowper

"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom."
                                                       -Viktor E. Frankl

Let me through a foolish thought swims
And carry forth what it can bring:
Not what a mind can leak at best
But the sprout is all a growing.

So many things that should diffuse
But yet the eyes can't see at all;
Standing where the Gates are opened--
The heart can only break the Wall.

If by chance it ever confuse
When sweet Confinements failed to be:
Let me through a foolish thought swims;
The Soul wanders but is not free.
