The hand that rocks the cradle

Inspired by the quotes of one of the greatest military geniuses of all time, Napoleon Bonaparte saying, "the future destiny of the child is always the work of the mother", and of  William Ross Wallace's "the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world", this poem which I wrote last year during my mother's 54th birthday is dedicated to all the mothers in the world and most especially to my mom. Happy Mothers Day!

The hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world;
All the mighty warriors were
But through that hands unfurled.

No bravery should boast its own
Without a mother's mark sealed in;
And through that Battlefield of Life
She knows too well to win.

A mother's love defines
The man that we should be;
The hand that rocks the cradle
Is guiding you and me.
