Pearl of the Orient Seas

During the late '90s I wrote a novel called "Pearl of the Orient Seas". It was a story about the Philippines gearing up on all cylinders against the threat of Chinese invasion that the disputed group of islands in the Spratly could have triggered.

And, as part of the strategic plan the Philippine government has to initiate in the taking back of Sabah from the Malaysians aside from the Spratly issue, whether by diplomatic means or by the use of force, war looms at the corner and aggression seemed like inevitable. The Philippine Navy playing a very significant role would be fielding Pearl of the Orient Seas, an aircraft carrier twice as large as the USS Carl Vinson of the United States and equipped with everything but modern warfare capabilities. The Philippines, having one of the world's strongest navies, emerged as the master of the sea in that part of the world and gains back the reputation becoming the Vikings of the East anew--the direct descendants of the once mighty Shri Vijayan empire.

The novel was half-finished and unedited. Unfortunately, I lost it somewhere. But it was a story about a most advanced, and feared Philippine Navy evolving from what critics sometimes jokingly criticize at as the "floating coffins" to the most powerful conventional weapon of war.

Back to reality, did you know that the greatest naval battle in history was fought in the Philippines during World War II? It was a three major naval engagements, which also includes warplanes,  fought simultaneously  in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the Battle of Surigao Strait, and the Battle of Cape EngaƱo. The Americans decisively defeated the Japanese and thus avenging the Pearl Harbor incident.

War has has been a part of human existence and civilization since the beginning. Nations will rise against nations and kingdoms against other kingdoms. And there are civil wars putting a government down, rebellions, and uncertainties.

Even in God's heavenly kingdom long time ago, a war once occurred, as what the Holy Bible has told. Lucifer, the chief of all angels, led his army to what was a failed coup d'etat. As the outcome of that war, God exiled him and his converts outside the heavenly kingdom.

We are in a state of war  and our strongest enemy, as what God tried to warn us, is not of the flesh and blood but of the spirit--Lucifer's evil angels. In the end, God will lead his army to victory. The final war will be fought in the Battle of Armageddon.

The Holy Bible mentioned about this prophecy in Revelation chapter 16 verses 12-21: “And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. 15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walks na_k_d, and they see his shame. 16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. 17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, it is done. 18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. 19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nation fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. 21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.”

In Noah's time, the ark serves as God's sole naval fleet destroying all of those outside of it and, therefore, cleansing the whole of the world with water. His next naval fleet is yet to come--most powerful, advance, and fearsome. It is the Holy City of God like a very large aircraft carrier floating in the oceans of fire.

I will one day finds time to write another novel to replace for the lost one. It must be called Pearl of the Orient Seas, from what was the original title. But, after Armageddon was fought and won, I will be writing Memoirs of a Paradise instead.
